Welcome to the new Darien Junior Cheerleading League (DJCL)!
The DJCL Program has been developed to provide Sideline Cheerleading at DJFL Tackle Football games during the Fall season. Part of the Fairfield County Football League (FCFL), DJFL teams play tackle football games on Saturdays and Sundays during September through November. The FCFL is comprised of 8 towns playing youth football – Aspetuck, Darien, Fairfield, New Canaan, Ridgefield, Weston, Westport and Wilton. Darien is excited to join all of the other FCFL communities in offering a junior cheerleading program.
The DJCL program will serve Darien Resident girls in grades 2 through 8 and will be run and managed by dedicated parent volunteers. The program will provide girls the opportunity to learn age appropriate cheerleading skills to cheer on Darien’s youth football teams.
From this CHEERLEADING tab on the DJFL website, you will be able to get news, forms, registration details, program information, schedules and much more as the website continues to develop. Check back frequently to get updates about the program and the latest information.
After registration is completed, squads will be developed. The number of squads and girls per squad will be determined based on the grade level of those registered. While subject to change, squads may be comprised of girls in Grades 2-3, Grades 4-6 and Grades 7 -8. Note that DJFL tackle teams typically have two teams in each grade for grades 3 through 8. The games cheerleaders attend will depend on the home games schedule. For information specific to the Fall Cheerleading program, click on the tab at the side of the page.
We are very excited to offer this league to Darien girls and look forward to being part of Darien’s football tradition.
